Current position:
I work as a climatologist
at CHMI
(Czech Hydrometeorological Institute), Regional Office Brno.
My studies
I have studied at Faculty
of Sciences (Masaryk
University, Brno,
Czech Republic)
- Physical
geography, specialization Meteorology
and Climatology;
post gradual studies supervisor Prof. Rudolf Brazdil;
-
in my project
for Degree of Bachelor (1996) I devoted to Methods of Homogenization
applied to Brno air temperature and precipitation series.
For this purpose I created software which can be
used generally
for any time series. The software contains basic statistical tests and
widely used homogeneity tests
such as:
-
Craddock's test
of Cumulative Deviations
- Bivariate
test of Maronna, Yohai,
- Standard
Normal Homogeneity Test of Alexandersson (for single shift, double
shift, trend, std ...)
- Homogeneity
Test of Easterling, Peterson, method of Vincent and others ...
Within the software
there are widely used graphs so that results can be easily interpreted.
- the topic of
my thesis for Degree of Master (1998) was Methods of Time Series Analysis
and I continued investigating Brno air temperature and precipitation
series in it. I have improved my software so that
there are included widely used
methods for analysis of time series:
-
correlation;
analysis,
- filtration
(low-pass, band-pass, high-pass),
- spectral
analysis (Blackman - Tukey, MESA, dynamic MESA),
- coherency
analysis,
and others ...
- Theme of my dissertation
(2006):
Air Temperature Variability within the Area of the Czech Republic in
the Period of Instrumental Measurements (click
for Abstract,
Whole
text + Appendix - in Czech, Prezentation
- pdf slides - in Czech )
. The first task of the thesis
has been homogenization of all long air-temperature series of the Czech
Republic (up to now there are 174 homogenized stations between
1771-2005). Averaged air-temperature series for the Czech Republic has
been calculated. Further task was time series analysis, trend and power
spectrum analysis, using also multivariate methods such as PCA, cluster
analysis, multivariate linear regression (for assessing impacts of
solar activity, volcanic activity, ENSO, CO2 on air temperature within
the Czech Republic).
-
Averaged series of the Czech Republic
(1848-2000, monthly data)
- During my
work - the thesis and various projects - I have created the software for Windows
(
AnClim,
ProClimDB,
LoadData ).
It is available free of charge (for non-commercial purposes). I am able
to help with solutions regarding statistical processing, handling big
amount of data etc.
